POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 2009-10 Our obligation to you: The opportunity to experience the passion of dance will be given in a positive and educational atmosphere. We strive to provide the best quality dance education possible and will treat all students as equals. Inspiration, motivation, information, and wisdom are what we aim to provide for all students. CLASSROOM PROCEDURES Promptness: Students should arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to their class to allow for time to get dressed, change shoes, etc. This will also give the students a full class period. Attendance: Dancer's are expected to attend all classes they are registered for. In the case of absence, please notify the office. Students with perfect attendance are awarded at the Spring Performance. Make-ups: Make-up's can only be made from September to December due to the fact that beginning in January choreography for the spring concert will begin in all classes. Make-ups should be arranged with the studio director. Cancellations/Snow Days: In the event of cancellation due to weather, please call the dance studio to listen to the recording. They do not necessarily coincide with school closings. Arrangements may be made up for a make-up class if the total amount of classes is less than 34. Refunds: There are no refunds on tuition. There are no refunds for classes missed. Enrollment: If enrollment for the class is below 4, the class will be cancelled and another class will be offered for the students currently enrolled. That maximum number for class enrollment is 8 for Pre-School and Kinder-Dance and 10 for the remainder. Resigning: If a student will not be participating in classes any longer, written notice is required in order to stop tuition. If notice is not given prior to the month's tuition, charges will continue for that month. No refunds will be given. Gum: Because dance is a physical activity, gum is not allowed while in the dance class. This is to prevent choking and general mess. DANCE ATTIRE this is part of the discipline of dance class. *ALL CLASSES: Hair up, secure and off of neck. *No extra jewelry and accessories. * Label all items. If left behind they will be in lost and found. We are not responsible for lost or damaged belongings. Pre-School, Kinder-Dance, Combination Fundamentals: -leotard -pink, white, or tan tights - black tap shoes -pink LEATHER ballet slippers Combination Fundamentals Only : TAN jazz shoes Levels 1 thru 4: Ballet: -Pink, tan or black tights -Solid color leotard -Pink ballet slippers Jazz, Tap and Hip-Hop -leotard/tank top -lycra shorts acceptable - Tan Tap shoes -Tan slip-on jazz booties HIPHOP - ONLY BLACK SOLE BOTTOM SNEAKERS *All Classes: No Loose fitting dance clothes! *All dancers should have a dance bag. *If a dancer is not prepared for class, they will not be able to participate. |
STUDIO PROCEDURES Potty Patrol: The faculty is not responsible for taking children to the restroom. They should go prior to class. At least one parent from each pre-school and kinder-dance class should be designated to stay for the remainder of the class in the case of a child having to use the restroom. Drop Off/Pick Up: young students should be accompanied by an adult when entering and leaving the dance studio. Dancers should wait inside. Parent Watch Weeks: Parent watch weeks will be held in November and April. This is the only time that parents may view the dance classes. Once the parents are in the specified class, they should remain for the remainder of the class. Studio Newsletter: A monthly studio newsletter will be posted on the studio web-site, sent via e-mail and posted in the studio in numerous places for easy viewing of parents and students. Paper copies will be supplied if need be, but we will not be handing them out to each individual dancer this year. Questions, Comments, and Concerns box: This is outside the office window and is open for any questions, comments and/or concerns. Please take the time to offer any questions, comments or concerns. Communication is key to a successful and happy environment. Fundraising: There will be a series of fundraisers for the students and the studio throughout the season. We will ask that you participate; however, it is a personal choice. Profits will go towards individual accounts. Food and Drink: No food is allowed in the dance classroom and only water is permitted. DK Dance does provide a refrigerator and sink for the students, as well as water, juice and snacks for purchase.
| TUITION, FEES and DISCOUNTS Tuition is based on 34 classes during the season divided into 9 1/2 months, September through June. Monthly tuition is due on the 1st class of each month. Payments are made monthly from September to May. June tuition will be included with May. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. Payments may be made in CASH, CHECK (made payable to DK Dance), VISA, MASTERCARD, or DISCOVER.
Please do not rely on your children to hand in the tuition. Be sure tuition is either handed in to the office or put in the tuition drop box. If turning in cash, please put it in an envelope with dancers name. Put the dancers name on checks.

*5% discount is taken off tuition if paying the full season by Sept 31, 2009. Late Fee: Tuition paid past the 15th of the month will be charged a $15 late fee. Class participation is subject to suspension if tuition becomes tardy. There is a bounced check fee of $25.00.
Family Discounts: First student: regular price, second student: 15% off, 3rd student: 20% off.
Bills: For the purpose of keeping the office and accounts up to date, bills for accounts with outstanding balances will be mailed out, or e-mailed if indicated so on the registration form.
Refer a friend: students who refer a family member to register at DK Dance will receive half off one month's tuition in March or April. Both students must complete the season to receive discount.
Registration Fee: This is a non-refundable fee that is due at the time of registration. This holds a spot for the student until classes begin. $20.00 / $30.00 per family
Costume Deposit: This will be put towards costume(s) for the spring dance concert. If the costume is more than the costume deposit, billing will be made to the account accordingly. Costume costs include all accessories for costumes: shoe bows, tights, head pieces, props, etc. There are no refunds on costumes once they are ordered. The deposit is $40, the costumes usually range from $45-$55 each.
Performance Fee: $45/$55 for 2 or more students. All dancers participate in the Spring Performance in June. The Performance Fee covers rental, maintenance, dress rehearsal, tickets, and all of the associated costs for the performance. *All accounts must be paid up to date in order to participate in the performance
Spring Performance Tee-Shirt Fee: Each dancer is required to purchase a tee-shirt for the Spring Performance. This tee-shirt is used as costume for the finale which all dancers participate in and a great keepsake!
Respect and Support: We only allow respect and support for each individual in and out of the dance studio. We will not tolerate negative remarks or actions to or about any other dancer and/or dance studio. In the even that we hear of any circumstance like this, you will be asked to speak with the director. *Whether you are new to the dance scene or you are coming from another dance studio, we ask that you please respect how the business is run. We strive to do the best we can do and if mistakes happen we will learn from them. Please stay up-to-date with all information passed out. Communication is the key, so if there are any problems, please come directly to the director or submit an entry to the Questions, Comments, and Concerns Box. * The director has the right to modify the policies and procedures at any given time. If change occurs, notice will be given. |
